For CPA firms drowning in fragmented tools
The unified operating system
for CPA firms
The average CPA firm runs 10+ tools and spends $20-76K a year on fragmented software that doesn't talk to each other.
Maxed combines all of it into one platform so you can run lean and fast - your team takes on more clients without the chaos, for a fraction of the cost.

“Right now I'm using different software for all of those things. Document management for one thing, workflow for another. Invoicing for another. Engagement letters for another... it's getting difficult keeping track of all those subscriptions. That's why I want to consolidate as much as possible.”
- Managing Partner, CPA Firm · Jacksonville, FL
“Oh that would be great. Much needed as we CPAs have been losing so much margin as technology develops.”
- Partner, Tax & Advisory Firm · Minneapolis, MN
“I would like to be the most efficient possible and have more time for my clients as opposed to firm maintenance and stuff like that.”
- Firm Owner, Accounting Practice · Austin, TX
“It would be nice to have everything in one dashboard, to just run the numbers straight into the end result.”
- Managing Director, CPA Firm · Denver, CO
“The software we were originally looking at is all very expensive.”
- Partner, Regional CPA Firm · Chicago, IL
The status quo is expensive
Why are CPA firms paying so much for software?
Because it's all fragmented.
CPA firms have been losing margin as technology develops. The average firm pays up to $76K a year across 8-12 tools that were never designed to work together.
Reclaim what you're owed on your services.
Hours of manual reconciliation
Every week your team re-enters data between tools that were never built to talk to each other. That's billable time, gone.
Locked in, forever
Every tool you add is another vendor to negotiate with, another contract, another data silo. The stack grows. So does the mess.
What makes Maxed different
Others sell you another tool.
We replace the stack.
There's no shortage of accounting software. The problem is none of it was designed to work together.
Open-source core
Open-source means the software code is freely available for anyone to inspect and verify, no hidden logic, no black boxes. Every tool in your Maxed stack is built on battle-tested open-source software: ERPNext for bookkeeping, Metabase for analytics, Docuseal for proposals, Nextcloud for documents. No vendor lock-in. No surprise price hikes.
One platform, actually unified
We don't integrate your existing tools, we replace them with a single system where every piece of data lives in one place, always. One login. Every workflow, every client, every report.
Migration handled
No technical setup on your end.
We do it for you.
We know your stack: TaxDome, Drake, SmartVault, Karbon. We've already built the migration paths. This isn't a DIY setup.
We audit your current stack
You tell us what you're running. We map everything: workflows, client data, billing, docs.
We migrate and configure
Our team handles the data migration and platform setup. No spreadsheet exports, no manual imports.
You go live on one platform
Your whole firm, unified. One login. Every workflow, every client, every report, in one place.
Concierge migration
We handle it, not you
No workflow rebuild
Your processes, our platform
One support team
Not 10 vendor help desks
Built for the way CPA firms work
We didn't build generic software
and point it at accounting.
Maxed is purpose-built for the workflows that actually run a CPA firm, not adapted from a project management tool.
Tax prep & filing
Organized by entity, deadline, and status, not by whoever touched it last.
Client portal & document exchange
Secure, branded, with automated reminders. No more chasing clients for source docs.
Engagement letters & e-signatures
Create, send, track, and archive, without a separate tool.
WIP reporting & billing
Real-time visibility on what's in progress, what's stuck, and what needs to be invoiced.
AR aging & collections
Automated follow-up sequences so you spend less time asking for what you're owed.
If you've said the words “write-up,” “engagement letter,” “1040,” or “AR aging” in the last week, this was built for you.
Why Maxed, why now
Early access. Built with firms,
not just for them.

Maxed was built because CPA firms deserve one platform that actually works together, instead of a dozen tools that don't talk to each other.

Concerns?
We know what you're thinking:
It feels risky to put all my eggs in one basket.
Maxed isn't a monolithic all-in-one built by a single vendor. It's built on best-in-class open-source tools: ERPNext for bookkeeping, Metabase for analytics, Docuseal for e-signatures, and Nextcloud for document management. Open-source means the code is publicly available, inspected by thousands of developers worldwide, and used by enterprises globally. You're not locked into one company's proprietary system. If anything changes, your data is portable and the underlying tools continue to exist independently.
I'd rather go with the best-in-class for each category.
That's exactly what Maxed is. We don't build everything from scratch, we string together the best open-source tools in each category: ERPNext (used by 15,000+ companies for ERP), Metabase (trusted by 50,000+ organizations for analytics), Docuseal (modern e-signature platform), and Nextcloud (used by governments and enterprises for document management). You get best-in-class for each function, but unified under one roof with one login and one support team.
How are you so much cheaper than the alternatives?
We use open-source software as our foundation. Open-source means the code is free to use and built by global developer communities rather than funded by venture capital that demands high margins. Companies like ERPNext and Nextcloud have been battle-tested by thousands of organizations. We integrate and configure these tools specifically for CPA workflows, handle the hosting and maintenance, and provide unified support, without the markup that proprietary vendors charge for equivalent functionality.
We just went through an implementation. We can't do another migration.
We handle the entire migration for you. No spreadsheet exports, no manual imports, no rebuilding workflows from scratch. We already know your stack (Karbon, TaxDome, Drake, SmartVault) and have built the migration paths. You don't lift a finger. Your team keeps working while we move everything over in the background.
Is it actually secure? How does it handle our client data?
Maxed is built on open-source infrastructure, meaning the code is publicly inspectable with no black boxes. Client data stays in your dedicated instance. We don't store, access, or mine it. All integrations run through SOC2-compliant API connections, and you maintain full control of your data at all times.
I'm technical and want to self-host. Is that possible?
Yes. Because Maxed is built on open-source components, you can host it yourself if you prefer full control. We provide documentation and the underlying repositories. Most firms prefer our managed service so they don't have to handle DevOps, but the option is there.
Want full control? Self-host Maxed for free.
Maxed is built entirely on open-source software. If you have technical resources and want to run it on your own infrastructure, the code is yours. No licensing fees. No vendor lock-in. Forever.
